Oh Boy what a night the best yet about 85 people ( were getting there ). Ok i got there for about 8.20 and we had 6 people in the room not bad, the band was setting up so i left them to it and about 5 to 9 they ask what time do you want us on " 9" i said so they rush about and got started about 9.05, and to start with we had a little Intro followed by Space Station then Loco-Breath, some Zep next with Rock n Roll then Radar Love then 3 Free song's Wishing Well, Mr Big and Alright Now by this time the dance floor was doing some good business ( Me i wanted to get up from the start but needed more beer ) the lads finished this set off with High Voltage and a good few others put in as a 10 minute or so Jam, then they came off at 10.05 a full hour set, Everybody was loving it all in high spirits Great first Half.
In the break i sold a good few tickets for our Xmas do and then the band was back on 10.30 ish, this is the Deep Purple set and what a set it is!!! Here are the song they did, Stormbringer, Woman From Tokyo, Mistreated, Highway Star, Strange Kinda Woman, Smoke on the Water, Space, Black Knight this took us to about 11.10 and the lads tried to leave the stage but we new they were'nt going to get away that easy shouts for more came in from everybody and i don't think any of the 85 had left yet so they came back on and played one more and one more and one more but that one had to be a short one and they finished off at 11.25 ish so nearly another full hour ( i got wrong but what the heck it was worth it ).
This has got to of been the best band and best night yet for the Wardley rock nite and if the committee say no to the bands for next year i'll ............ well hopfully that wont happen.
