WITCHKRAFT
9/11/06
First of
two reviews of bands I caught this weekend.
On Thursday I caught
Witchkraft at the Grange in Sunderland.
There was a good turn out
at the pub and the band were on good form.
The first set was a good
mix of well known songs from Montrose, Jethro Tull, Golden earring,
Free and ACDC.
Second set was Deep Purple
as this is their trade mark.
Cliff
on drums (ex white Noise) and Gaz on bass have created a really tight
and punchy rythm section. Mr. Big was excellent, really showing off
Gaz's skills.
John on vocals , was
suffering with a chest infection
but it didn't stop him delivering, with a good , high and gritty rock
vocal.
Mal...is Mal. Looks and
plays like Blackmore, has all the
moves and the sound of Mr. B, but can also show he's really good at the
other stuff as well.
All in all it was a good
show, good crowd, nice choice of rock classics mixed with the best of
Purple.
Personal favourites for me
were Space Station Number 5 and Into The Fire.
If you haven't seen them
yet then get yourself along.
