November 2003, as near as you will get to the PERFECT gig...
Great venue, great band and a great crowd.
The last time I ventured out to catch this act I was one of only
eight punters in the doomed Rock Bar.
The poor turnout then did not phase the lads one bit as they
delivered there very professional rock set.
Well last night a healthy, near capacity crowd went berserk
cheering them on and getting a blistering show of
great rock delivered back at them, just what a great night out
requires.
Vocalist [John] hardly stopped to take a breath and the crack
amongst the punters near me was that he has to
be one of the best chanter currently doing the rounds.
He doesn't try to phrase everything as the records, like the rest
of the band he ads his own unique style to the
tracks which has us wondering why don't they write and perform
their own material?...
The band, led by guitarist Mal [I love Ritchie Blackmore] are one of the most powerful
and tight outfits you will
see, all individually stunning live performers.
The rhythm section of bassist Gary and his son, Lloyd on
drums lay down a rock solid foundation, a great
vehicle for Mal's brilliant guitar work and John's searing vocals.
What more could a rock fan want;
A drum kit between two stacks.
A pro sounding P.A. system.
A few lights.
Great material from the likes of: Free, Purple ZZ Top, ACDC etc.
A brilliant set of musicians to deliver it.
And a vocalist with a voice that nestles somewhere between ACDC
and Slade
Just go see them soon and enjoy... I did.
